Whale Valley (Hvalfjordur)
Bader - ages 18+ - Ajyal Youth Film Festival 2013
Synopsis
In Competition
The dissonant inner life of a lonely young man is amplified by the isolation of the remote Icelandic countryside that serves as the majestic backdrop for the drama of ‘Whale Valley’. Like the film’s titular creature, the youth feels stranded ashore and only the powerful bond that ties him to his sensitive younger brother keeps him from contemplating suicide. Winner of a Special Mention for Best Live Action Short Film at 2013 Cannes Film Festival, and of the Golden Spike Award at 2013 Giffoni Film Festival 2013.
