The iconic story of Cinderella, which first appeared around the year 860 A.D. in China, comes to life anew in this lovely and transporting film that will thrill audiences of all ages. This family-oriented film, shot in China's Yunnan Province and featuring Brenda Song as the narrator, is a beautifully rendered interpretation of the classic tale, complete with many Chinese elements and a mostly Chinese cast. The film combines a wonderfully rich use of Chinese mythology with the classic story of the girl with the evil step mother. Audiences will be swept away by the film's spectacular visual elements, which further enrich the movie's affecting and emotive style. Written and directed by Richard Bowen and starring newcomer Xiao Min in a performance of extraordinary grace, the film presents children and adults alike with a wonderfully imagined and beautifully enacted family parable.
