How can the ambitions and local talents be developed to build a sustainable creative industry? Last month, Emirati director Ali Mostafa – in between filming his next feature following his debut, “City of Life” – launched his five minute thriller webisodes “Classified” with MBC. The casting and pre-production was done in three weeks. The series concept was inspired by the success of Lebanon’s Emmy ® award winning “Shankaboot”, which is now expanding its Arabic series to the Gulf, in search of untold stories and undiscovered talents. In this panel, join Qatari filmmaker Ahmed Al Baker and guests, to discuss how it’s more than just local audiences who want to consume Gulf storylines, from online to the big screen. The question is: how can local talents and skills be developed to meet their appetites and develop authentic voices?
