'Die Welt' at MoMA

Mar 26, 2013

Film: Die Welt

Alex Pitstra’s ‘Die Welt’, which received a grant from DFI’s MENA Grants programme and had its world premiere right here in Doha during DTFF last November, has been selected as part of the prestigious New Directors/ New Films programme, an initiative of the Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City. The post-Jasmine Revolution drama is a gentle, realistic portrait of life in Tunis that explores the contemporary hopes, dreams and struggles of the people of the Maghreb.

‘We were struck by the film’s use of modern cinema language and storytelling to offer an inside look at Tunisia, especially the lives and dreams of young people nowadays,” say Ludmila Cvikova and Chadi Zeneddine, DFI’s lead programmers. ‘We’re absolutely thrilled to see Alex’s film getting such important international exposure.’

If you’re in New York, catch ‘Die Welt’ tonight, 26 March, at 6:15PM, or this Thursday, 28 March, at 8:30PM. For more information, click here.
