DFI Kids Access Blog: Najwa at the 'Silver Lining Playbook' Red Carpet

Nov 20, 2012

Some people consider their ‘best days’ as their birthdays, or the first time they went rock climbing. These are all very exciting moments, but not as exciting as today! Karim, my reporting partner, and I interviewed a whole heap of celebrities, each with a different character. There were about five or six celebrities we got to interview in Arabic, which was rather fun but nerve wracking, since I am more familiar with English. I managed to deliver my questions in a proper manner (at least I hope I did!).

Patty Newburger was one of the attendees we got to interview. Patty actually helped start the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, and suggested we join the Tribeca Film Festival in New York someday! Wouldn’t that be fantastic! Another celebrity we had the pleasure of interviewing was Khalid Abol Naga, an Egyptian actor. He was a lot of fun. He actually gave us a very tight cuddle while having our picture taken. (So sweet…)

Later in the evening, Mr. and Mrs. De Niro arrived on the red carpet. It was so delightful to see them in person and to have a conversation with them. I couldn’t believe that they have an 11-month-old baby girl! She will certainly grow to be as adorable as they are. I felt very special the moment he stood next to me and paid close attention to my questions and me. Everyone was shouting Mr. De Niro’s name…desperate for a picture. He waved at them and walked in to the theatre.

Today was an AMAZING experience! I would have never imagined that a day could be so much fun…
