- powerful documentary on inspirational women entrepreneurs, on March 26
Doha, Qatar; March 21, 2018: The Embassy of Canada to Qatar in partnership with Doha Film Institute Cinema (DFI Cinema) and the Qatari Businesswomen’s Association will screen Dream, Girl, (USA/2016) a powerful documentary that celebrates the stories of inspirational and ambitious female entrepreneurs. The screening will take place at 7pm on Monday, 26 March 2018 at the Museum of Islamic Art Auditorium and will be followed by a panel discussion with businesswomen and entrepreneurs from the community.
Directed by Erin Bagwell, Dream, Girl paints a complex picture of what it means to be a leader. The women speak openly about the struggles and triumphs that come with entrepreneurship from discrimination and self-care to what it means to start a family and a business at the same time. Each woman has an authentic story that is unique to her individual experience. Yet the stories are interconnected in ways that uplift audiences in business and life.
Fatma Al Remaihi, Chief Executive Officer of the Doha Film Institute, said: “Closely following the International Women’s Day celebration, we are delighted to bring a film that showcases the stories of successful women entrepreneurs who have pushed their boundaries. Their stories will resonate with every individual, men and women, young and old, as they talk about how they overcame real-world challenges to achieve success. In Qatar, where women are at the forefront of entrepreneurship, creative industries and in professional roles, this documentary will form a special connection with audiences. We are thankful to the Embassy of Canada in Qatar and the Qatari Businesswomen’s Association for their support to this initiative.”
Adrian Norfolk, Canada’s Ambassador to Qatar said: “As part of Canada’s support for International Women’s Day and in line with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy, we are pleased to be working with the Doha Film Institute and the Qatari Businesswomen’s Association on this important initiative. It is my hope that this inspirational film, with deep Canadian connections, will empower the next generation of women leaders and entrepreneurs.”
