Qatar-based talents in the spotlight at New Voices in Cinema Programme at Qumra 2019

Doha, Qatar: 14 March 2019: The fifth edition of Qumra, the annual industry event by the Doha Film Institute presented stories from Qatar and the region as part of its New Voices in Cinema programme.

Qatar-based filmmakers Amal Al-Muftah, Mariam Al-Dhubhani, Mahdi Ali Ali, Zahed Bata, and Nouf Al Sulaiti came together at the Museum of Islamic Art to showcase their works that have been supported by the Institute to a packed audience. The short films were screened after a showing of 2019 Academy Award®-nominated documentary Of Fathers and Sons by Talal Derki.

Qumra 2019, a one-of-a-kind film event in the region brings together more than 150 acclaimed filmmakers, industry professionals and experts to nurture 36 films – the Qumra Projects – by first and second-time filmmakers that are in various stages of development.
