DFI’s First Short Animation ‘Rain’ Exclusive Screening

June 11 2012: Doha Film Institute screened its first short animation, ‘Rain’ at an exclusive screening in Katara on Sunday 10th June. It was the film’s first destination before it officially premier s at ‘Shorts Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2012’ in Tokyo, Japan.
‘Rain’, a 13 minute animated film based on a regional folktale from the Middle East, follows the main character ‘Rain’, on a journey into the desert. After a tragic event he seeks refuge in a drought stricken Bedouin camp where he is faced with challenging expectations. Unable to deliver, ‘Rain’ resorts to his spirituality and hope. The film tells a universal story of hope, generosity and a desperate wish.
This project is an outcome of a regional collaboration and a mix of talented animators from different parts of the world with Nitin Sawhney creating the film’s score and Rahab El Ewaly directing.
The film was appreciated by a backed audience of family members and cinema lovers.
