After A Revolution
Spring Grants 2019
Synopsis
Filmed over six years, ‘After A Revolution’ is a brother and sister’s epic, challenging, yet intimate story of love and rebellion in post-revolution Libya. Mirroring the multiple divisions and contradictions of contemporary Libya, these siblings fight for justice and freedom, on opposite sides, separated by their ideologies but bound by the love of family, and the love of their country. At its core, this is a story about going against the status quo for what you believe in, and suffering the consequences. Simultaneously it is a complex story of family, love, loyalty and redemption. A family struggling to rebuild their lives, and raise their children while finding a new equilibrium, as the world falls apart around them. Through the eyes of a brother and sister and their children we see a close-up on the country’s explosive course from rebellion, to elections, to the edge of civil war and the impact international war has on a local, intimate level.
