Doha 19 January, 2013: Doha Film Institute (DFI) screened the first installment of ‘Hekayat Khaleejia’ (Khaleeji Stories), with the screening of ‘Sea Shadow’ at the Museum of Islamic Arts (MIA) Thursday. This new initiative is DFI’s latest year-round film appreciation programme showcasing Khaleeji films to the Doha community every three months.

The screening was attended by a mixture of guests and audiences enjoyed the extended Q&A session with director Nawaf Al-Janahi and screenwriter Mohammed Hassan Ahmed about their acclaimed film.

‘Sea Shadow’ is set in a small seaside neighborhood in the United Arab Emirates, ‘Sea Shadow’ follows teenagers Mansour and Kaltham as they struggle with tradition in their journey towards adulthood. Bound by family conventions and deep-rooted values, the pair must find the courage to forge their own paths.

Audiences enjoyed the first screening of the series, but if you missed out, stay tuned and watch out for the next installment of ‘Hekayat Khaleejiya’ in April. If you can’t wait that long before the next special screening, you can book your tickets now for the showing of ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’, part of the Katara DFI Cinema programme, which opens daily from 24-30 January at the Katara Drama Theatre, Building 16.
