الملخص

In a Sudanese cotton-farming village, the old matriarch, Al-Sit, must be consulted for her blessing ahead of any family wedding. Nadir has come from abroad to marry Al-Sit’s teenage granddaughter Nuzha, and start a textile business in the village. Al-Sit doesn’t trust his motives and is annoyed that he has come alone, without his parents. She demands to know the names of Nadir’s ancestors, and one name, in particular, sparks Al-Sit’s anger. But does her traditional knowledge of the past hold any power in the modern world? The story is seen through the eyes of Nuzha, a shy, 15-year-old Sudanese village girl trying to make sense of her surroundings.

نبذة عن المخرج

سوزانا المرغني خريجة الاتصال ودراسات الإعلام وصانعة أفلام مستقلة تعمل على تسليط الضوء على القصص من منطقة الخليج، مع تركيز خاص على قطر. تنحدر من خلفية متعددة الثقافات وتهتم بالقصص التي تتحدث عن الترابط الداخلي للأقليات والهويات المتعددة على الرغم من أنها تبدو في الظاهر على تناقض. تركز جل اهتمامها على استكشاف الثروة الكامنة في تعدد الثقافات والتي تظهر في مجتمع مثل قطر. كتبت المرغني وأخرجت العديد من الأفلام القصيرة منها «حلم هند» (2014) و«كرفان» (2016).
